What is air flotation?
Flotation method is the first stage of sewage treatment, belonging to the category of physical treatment, can only remove most of the suspended solids and a small part of COD and BOD. Strictly speaking, the treated water cannot be discharged directly and cannot meet the standard. It can only be used as pretreatment for secondary and tertiary biochemical treatment. But pretreatment is a necessary step of sewage treatment, and the result of pretreatment is directly related to the effect of subsequent biochemical treatment. Therefore, air flotation machine is an essential general environmental protection equipment in sewage treatment.
Flotationmethod uses highly dispersed microbubbles as carriers to removepollutantsfrom adhered wastewater, making its density less than water and floating to the surface to achieve solid-liquid or liquid-liquid separation. Flotationprocess includes bubble generation, bubble and particle (solid or droplet) adhesion and flotation separation of successive steps. There are two necessary conditions to realize the separationof air flotation method: first, a sufficient number of fine bubbles must be provided to the water, and the ideal size of the bubbles is 15~30 m; second, the target must be suspended orhydrophobic, so as to adhere to the bubbles and float. Compared withprecipitation method, what are the characteristicsof air flotationmethod?

Working Principle of THAF Cavitation Air-float Machine
Raw sewage first enters a small aeration stage equipped with a vortex aerator. Sewage flows through the aeration section as it rises, where it mixes well with microbubbles generated by the aerator. Aerators transfer air from the surface to the bottom of the water through exhaust pipes. The working principle of the aerator is to form a vacuum zone in the water by using the high-speed rotation of the diffuser impeller at the bottom of the air conveying pipe. The air on the liquid surface is input into the water through the aerator to fill the vacuum. Microbubbles are generated and spiral up to the water surface. The oxygen in the air also enters the water.
Because of the density imbalance between the gas-water mixture and the liquid, a vertical upward buoyancy force is generated, which carries the solid suspension to the surface. In the process of floating, microbubbles will attach to the suspended matter. After reaching the water surface, the solid suspended matter will rely on these bubbles to support and maintain the water surface, and will be removed by radial airflow thrust.
Suspended solids floating on the water surface are removed intermittently by chain scrapers. The scraper moves along the entire liquid surface and pushes the suspension from the inlet end of the flotation tank to the outlet end. Scraper blades are fixed to the ends of the chain. The sludge scraper is a gear driven by a gear reducer mounted on one side of the tank. The scraper moves along the entire width of the tank, scraping the floating suspension onto the inclined metal plate and pushing it into the sludge discharge pipe. There is a horizontal screw propeller (slag remover) in the sludge discharge pipeline, which sends the collected sludge to the sludge collector (slag remover). The screw propeller (slag remover) is also driven by the reducer. The purified sewage enters the overflow tank through an outlet under the metal plate before being discharged. The overflow tank is used to control the water level of the air flotation tank to ensure that the liquid in the tank does not flow into the sludge discharge pipe.
